A new Dubai speakeasy combining water, earth, fire and air with moody deep red interiors has launched, promising a menu of cocktails that evoke the elements.
Aether at the five-star W Dubai hotel on The Palm promises to “ignite the senses and elevate the spirit” with smooth R&B beats and a menu of mixed drinks drawing upon the “primal forces of nature”.
In the dramatically spotlit space – hidden behind heavy doors – shiny gold stools and plush red armchairs overlook brushed concrete walls and an amber-themed bar stocked with premium spirits.
Menu highlights include the Parachute Youth (AED80) — a mix of rum with citrus, yuzu, caramel and lavender that represents air’s “boundless freedom of movement and expansiveness”.
The wood-aged Espressioni (AED85) meanwhile features a fiery blend of gin with coffee-infused Campari, red vermouth and homemade chocolate.
Drinks will be served up alongside a range of bites, with a DJ spinning out everything from bossa nova and jazz during the week to “specially edited” soul, funk and disco tracks on weekend nights.
“Aether sets itself apart with its music by spotlighting the soulful rhythms, rich melodies, and vibrant beats, specially curated to harbour an inviting atmosphere with a smooth yet eclectic soundtrack from the speakeasy’s live DJ daily to elevate guests’ experience,” the hotel added.
