Dubai’s La Cantine du Faubourg has revealed a special set menu and brunch in celebration of Bastille Day.
The French restaurant in Jumeirah Emirates Towers hotel will celebrate the occasion with national classics including foie gras terrine, seafood with Filet de Saint-Pierre sauce and clafoutis.
A special set menu full of Parisian flair is available for one night only on Friday July 14 at a price of AED350 per person, including a glass of champagne.
The experience starts with an indulgent foie gras terrine accompanied by courgette chutney and rustic sourdough bread, as well as prawns served with aubergine and a tomato tarte with brie and thyme.
Next up comes the main course, featuring grilled lamb and a seafood Filet de Saint Pierre grenobloise served with a side of Lyonnaise potatoes and a tomato salad.
Finally, if you’re not already full enough, for dessert the classic peach melba is served alongside a cherry-almond clafoutis.
French National Day commemorates the July 14 1789 storming of the Bastille prison, signifying the rise of the modern nation.
It is typically celebrated across France and beyond with major public events, including on the Champs-Élysées in Paris – the oldest and largest regular military parade in Europe.
On Bastille Day itself, fireworks are launched all over the country, and French citizens engage in gatherings embodying the French motto “Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité” – meaning “Liberty, Equality, Brotherhood.”
