AlUla is about to get a whole lot brighter with the arrival of an exhibition by world-renowned artist Andy Warhol.
The iconic pop artist’s FAME exhibition is set to open at Maraya this week, bringing his colorful works to Saudi Arabia for the very first time.
The exhibition, in collaboration with Arts AlUla and The Andy Warhol Museum, showcases the impact Warhol had on pop culture in addition to his profound influence on the world of art.
The museum holds the world’s largest collection of Warhol’s artwork, making it the perfect partner for this highly-anticipated event.
Running from Friday, February 17 to Tuesday, May 16, the AlUla Andy Warhol exhibition will feature iconic works curated specifically for the famous Maraya venue.
Visitors can expect to see some of Warhol’s most famous prints, including his depictions of Muhammad Ali, Elizabeth Taylor, and Dolly Parton.
The exhibition will also showcase Warhol’s lesser-known works, such as screen tests of ’60s icons, rarely seen archived photographs of Hollywood publicity photos and Polaroids, and the popular Silver Clouds work.
In addition to the exhibition, there will also be a series of talks and workshops available to visitors. One of the highlights will be the 13 Most Beautiful exhibition, which features large-scale projections of Warhol’s silent films set to a specially commissioned live soundtrack by Dean and Britta.
The exhibition’s title “FAME” playing on Warhol’s desire to become the world’s most famous artist and the challenges that come with it.
The show also references one of Warhol’s most famous quotes: “In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes.”
Whether you’re an art enthusiast or looking for a unique experience, the AlUla Andy Warhol exhibition is not to be missed. So mark your calendars, and get ready to immerse yourself in a world of color, fame, and creativity.
