Legendary astronauts to host space camps at COMO’s stunning resorts in Thailand, Bali and the Maldives

Stars over palm trees

As you stand on a white sand beach under a blanket of stars, it’s hard not to wonder what it would be like to journey through the cosmos.

This summer, COMO Hotels and Resorts is inviting guests to do just that during a series of immersive Space Camps at its resorts in Thailand, Bali and the Maldives.

These star-gazing adventures, held between July and August, will be hosted by renowned NASA astronaut Nicole Stott and Sara Sabry, the world’s first female Arab astronaut.

Aimed at both children and adults, the camps promise a blend of relaxation, learning, and exploration.

In Thailand, from July 9th to 14th, 2023, COMO Point Yamu is offering children a unique opportunity to understand the extent of human impact on the environment.

The young campers will engage in mangrove planting, learning how our actions resonate beyond our own atmosphere.

Then Bali’s COMO Uma Canggu will be hosting a space-themed banquet from July 17th to 23rd, 2023.

Attendees will delve into the intricacies of growing food in orbit, understanding the life of an astronaut from a new perspective.

Finally, COMO Maalifushi in Maldives will host the Space Camp from July 28th to August 6th, 2023.

Here, children can bring their imaginations to life, designing their own spacesuits and participating in astronaut-inspired fitness challenges.

The Space Camps are curated by two stellar personalities. Nicole Stott, a veteran NASA astronaut, combines her spaceflight experiences with her love for art to inspire appreciation of our shared role on ‘Spaceship Earth.’

She is the founder of the Space for Art Foundation, uniting children worldwide through the wonder of space exploration and art’s healing power.

Joining Stott is Sara Sabry, an accomplished astronaut, engineer, and advocate for diversity in the space industry – and the first Egyptian, Arab woman, and African woman to venture into space.

As the founder and executive director of the Deep Space Initiative (DSI), she is committed to increasing accessibility and opportunities in the space field, ensuring that space exploration is an attainable dream for everyone.

The Space Camp schedules are packed with activities from designing constellations and crafting using recycled materials to beach cleanups and snorkelling safaris.

The camp also includes intriguing sessions like “Food in Space” and “Spacesuit Design,” allowing participants to take a first-hand look into an astronaut’s life.

Of course, both Stott and Sabry will share their space experiences and offer personal insights during these activities.

They hope to create an inspiring environment where dreams are nurtured, horizons are expanded, and a lifelong fascination with space is ignited.
